The Sharjah Real Estate Registration Directorate has awarded Sharjah Sustainable City, a completely sustainable residential community built by Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) in collaboration with Diamond Developers, the Real Estate Excellence Award for the year 2022. (SRERD).

The Government of Sharjah created the Real Estate Excellence Award to honor excellent accomplishments in the emirate’s real estate industry. By promoting quality and originality, the awards want to encourage and grow the industry while also igniting investment and activity in this important area of Sharjah’s economy.

Yousif Ahmed Al-Mutawa, Chief Executive Officer of Sharjah Sustainable City, commented on the award, “Once again, we are honoured to receive the Real Estate Excellence Award 2022 from the Sharjah Real Estate Registration Department. Receiving this award for a second year reflects our commitment to furthering the field of sustainable development in Sharjah and the UAE. We will continue to focus on delivering an aspirational community which offers practical solutions related to food security, water and energy management, as well as natural resource conservation to serve residents and the planet for years to come.”

Sharjah Sustainable City, the first urban mixed-use project in Sharjah, is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of the green economy and environmental sustainability. It is the result of a strategic partnership between Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) and Diamond Developers, a regional leader in developing environmentally sustainable real estate projects.

The award demonstrates Sharjah Sustainable City’s commitment to helping the UAE government achieve its goals of increasing national happiness and building more eco-friendly communities with top-notch facilities and cutting-edge infrastructure that has a small carbon footprint.

Sharjah Sustainable City is a premier mixed-use development that spans 7.2 million square feet of land in Sharjah’s Al Rahmaniya Area. It consists of contemporary townhouses and corner units with 3, 4, and 5 bedrooms that have a modern design and are distinguished by innovative architecture that maximizes living space.

A net-zero strategy for city development was used in the creation of Sharjah Sustainable City. To encourage walkability and the use of clean transportation, the city is powered by renewable energy from solar PVC panels on villa rooftops and utility buildings; recycles 100 percent of wastewater for irrigation of landscaped areas; grows vegetables and leafy greens on site in biodomes; and was designed with these features in mind.

Aiming to enhance residents’ quality of life without compromising the needs of future generations, Sharjah Sustainable City provides opportunities for research and inspiration on how residential communities can reduce their carbon footprint. Social amenities such as parks, gyms, swimming pools, schools, and walking/cycling paths span the community.

The residential properties of Sharjah Sustainable City are anticipated to provide savings of up to 50% on electricity and water bills for residents thanks to the use of thermally insulated construction materials and windows, smart home automation, water-saving appliances, energy-saving electrical fittings, and rooftop solar PVC installations.
