Following a successful pilot scheme, Eastlight Community Homes, a resident-led housing association based in Braintree, is rolling out cutting-edge digital keyless technology its 550 apartment blocks in the East of England.
Over the next twelve months, 14,500 homes will adopt the technology, which allows customers to safely access their homes using a mobile app.
Norwegian based Unloc is behind the technology, which already delivers keyless access to property agents and housing companies across Europe. The East of England trial saw keyless access to 60 blocks, supporting 50 residents, significantly reducing operating costs and increasing efficiency for both residents and staff.
The roll-out of keyless access will mean better property management for Eastlight, allowing access for cleaners, fire inspection officers and residents struggling with lost keys or forgotten access codes.
Unloc, founded seven years ago in Oslo, has developed safe, encrypted software that enables building owners and tenants to access buildings digitally. Unloc now represents Scandinavia’s largest network of keyless solutions, opening doors one million times every month.
Chairman of Unloc Neil Sinclair commented:
“It has been great to see the difference it has made to Eastlight and the practical and cost benefits this technology has delivered.
“Our aim over the coming months and years is to increase our presence in the UK market and we are speaking to a wide variety of building managers, residential owners, student accommodation operators, BTR companies, housing associations and commercial landlords.”
Charlotte Todd, Executive Property Director from Eastlight Community Homes commented:
“By utilising this technology, we are transforming how we access our buildings.
“The pilot scheme was very successful, and we are very excited to introduce this technology to all our homes, as soon as possible.”
Eastlight are hopeful that the new technology will save over £300,000 in annual labour costs, over 500 miles driven by just one team every year, 34 per cent savings in operational costs and better security.
Essex-based Eastlight Community Homes manages around 14,500 homes and has an ambitious pipeline of new developments across the East of England
